A Triptych for Sylvestra

Every stone has a provenance, but none more so than the three, large, irregularly-cut, octagonal central stones to these necklaces. An explorer great uncle of my client bought these loose stones decades ago. My client wanted to do something with them, and as she has two daughters the idea of using the stones for three pieces appealed. I designed and made her a triptych of gold necklaces, where each is set with all three types of stone. Each necklace references the other, and together they are a set, echoing the three way relationship between my client and her daughters.

Smoky Quartz is a close relation to amethyst and citrine; it ranges in colour from pale to dark brown. Smoky Quartz is reputed to be a protective and grounding gemstone which dissipates negativity and balances energies. It is seen as an aid to anxiety, stress and depression.
Rock Crystal The word crystal comes from the Greek word for purity; our wonderful clear quartz crystal is beautifully cut and shines like glass never could.
Citrine is a member of the quartz family; it is a quartz crystal or cluster which ranges in colour from pale yellow to dark sherry orange. Once widely considered as a poor relation to topaz, citrine is enjoying something of a revival in contemporary jewellery. It is a beautiful stone found around the world. Citrine is a bright, sunny and warm gemstone which is said to lift the spirits and heal the body.
